Hello all Pilots,
As I'm the new committee member responsible for "Events" at DDRF, and I'm glad to announce the dates of the following events.
Please pencil these into your calendars.
DDRF Event Dates
6 March 2011 (Sunday)- Introduction to Aerobatics (Pattern Flying)
20 March2011 (Sunday) - Fun Fly
2 July 2011 (Sunday) - Fun Fly
8 October 2011 (Sunday) - Fun Fly
Regarding the first event on 6 March :-
Introduction to Aerobatics
For anyone who has an interest in taking their flying to a completely new height, Pattern flying may be for you.
We're having a 2-hour session on Introduction to Aerobatics referencing the Special Interest Group MAASA, otherwise know as Pattern Flying.
The idea here is to introduce you to this discipline and give you the basics to start. You do not need to be a brilliant flier to start Pattern Flying, just
the desire to learn aerobatics is all you need (and a solo rating with at least 1 years flying experience I guess)
Date: 6 March 2011
Time: 11:00 - 13:00
Venue: DDRF Club (under the thatched gazebo)
Agenda:
1. Introduction to MAASA
2. Understanding the different classes
3. Reading Aretsi diagrams (flying schedules)
4. Flying pattern schedules
5. Basic aircraft setup
6. All about the monthly competitions (judges, scoring, the flight box etc…)
7. Demonstration flights of the Novice Schedule, Sportsmans Schedule and F3A Schedule
The demonstration flights will be done by Pierre Marais who is South Africa's no.2 pilot and will be one of 3 guys representing South Africa in this years world champs in USA.
Pierre will show how good one can get, and the F3A schedule he flies will totally blow your mind - don’t miss this !!
Afterwards, there will be a Braai and boerrie rolls will be served.
Please let me know who will attend this event so we can cater adequately. Just "Reply" to this email to confirm your attendance.
Regards.
Ray Jamieson
